some old sketch

some old sketch i did about two weeks ago. I wasn't really happy with it, because it was really hard to make all the individual objects look distinctly visible. it was a struggle.

sextuplets

I started these sketches earlier today after being greatly inspired by the concept art and sketches of Daryl Mandryk. This guy is a beast. If you look closely, u can still see the red perspective lines in some of the sketches. I intend on taking each sketch to a decent level of completion throughout this week. Hopefully, i'll end up painting all of them.

extreme portrait.

this was the final for my paint/color theory class. I started with a black and white value painting, then added textures and color in separate overlay layers.

painting before textures were added.

flying microscope machines

The idea was to create a robot whose job was to observe things on a microscopic level. That's what explains what the robots on the sides whose heads look like a microscope. A lot of functional things could be added, but I didn't want to over think about the design, and kill the spontaneous feeling.
once again, I started out with about 12 silhouettes, rendered six of with basic value, then further added color and more detail to these three. I'm later gonna chose one and get it to full completion.

random sketch

this concept sketch a simple man who is gazing what has been taking place behind his tiny little house. I didn't time myself on this one, but I didn't spend long on it. still working on the usage of that lasso tool.

lasso style 2

This is another painting where I was experimenting with my lasso skills. I'm already on summer break, so I'll be posting more often.

lasso style

The other day when I was watching one of Scot Drake's painting demos on youtube (see demo here), I discovered a tool in photoshop called "the lasso tool". With this tool, I can do so many things like: create a shape, repeat that shape throughout the painting, create geometric shapes, and so on. This tool is about to change my life. After looking at one of Scot drake's demos, u can see that he has mastered the use of the lasso tool to suit his needs, and only constant practice will get me there.

before and after

I haven't been posting for a while, and I'm sorry. I have finals to deal with. but here goes a painting that I did a while back. Expect more this summer.
This simply depicts a bridge before some bug-like creature took custody of it. Little paintings like these with little stories behind them are really fun to do.

another speed painting

took me 2 hrs. I'm actually thinking of going back and making this painting super tight. When I was working on this, I had a hard time figuring the color scheme out. Stuff like this is what makes me slow at painting. Still working on getting faster.
